The Geography Landforms Project
Objective: To understand the major landforms of the Americas and the elements of map-making.
Studying Geography and Topology:
Students engage in a diverse set of activities to learn about the geography of their city, country, and the world. They explore how different regions are organized and separated into categories like cities, states, and countries. Additionally, they study the major topographical structures of the U.S., such as the significant mountain chains that shape the U.S. landscape.
Creating Personal Islands
Students design and create maps of imaginary islands using papier-mâché and plaster to craft unique topographical features. This hands-on activity helps them understand the concepts of geography and topography in a creative and tangible way.

Scriptwriting and filming
Each student writes a script for a short documentary featuring their island, highlighting its unique geographic characteristics. They then film and edit their feature using iMovie, enhancing both their creativity and technical skills in video production.
Skills Developed
This project helps students develop practical skills in geography, arts, and technology. They also enhance their literacy and presentation skills, learning how to articulate and share information effectively.
